Criminal History Check and Sex Offender Registry CheckThis position is open until filledThe College of Southern Maryland is an Equal Opportunity EmployerSpecific Duties and Responsibilities Provides leadership for the School of Science and Health academic laboratoriesHires, supervises and evaluates all lab support personnel on all campusesThis includes 3 Laboratory Coordinators, 4 Laboratory Assistants, and up to 4 student assistantsDevelops and coordinates lab personnel in-service trainingCoordinates laboratory professional development plansSupervises laboratory staff in the preparation of materials and equipment to support science and health labsEnsures required aseptic techniques are followed in lab preparation as appropriateManages laboratory support personnel to accommodate the individual needs of each program/courseEnsures that each lab area has the necessary materialsNotifies the faculty and laboratory support personnel of any laboratory problemsAssures labs and supplies are secured and managed in compliance with federal and state regulationsSupervises proper accumulation, storage, and disposal of hazardous and biological wasteEnsures safe working conditions for students, faculty and other employeesEnsures proper safety equipment is available and proper safety precautions are practiced in handling hazardous substancesAdvises faculty and staff on specific control measures established to protect employeesOversees the testing of laboratory safety equipment to ensure functionalityCollaborates with CSM Environmental Health and Safety Officer, academic deans and chairs to develop, revise and promulgate policies and procedures related to the safe usage of equipment and laboratory space consistent with state and federal regulationsContributes to the School of Science and Health strategic and operational planning processesContributes to annual budget development process by tracking and projecting science and health laboratory costs including equipment repair and replacement, service contracts, and consumable supplies and materialsAccountable for all supply orders, inventory and storage of supplies and equipment used in the science and health laboratories across four campusesManages requisitions and invoices for supplies and equipment in collaboration with Procurement and Administrative AssistantsActs as primary contact with all science and medical equipment supply companies and vendorsSupervises the maintenance of the chemical inventory and Safety Data SheetsMaintains a current inventory of equipment and supplies used to facilitate science and health laboratoriesSupervises cleaning, maintenance, and repair of all equipment used in the laboratoriesManages equipment issues, coordinates and tracks equipment preventative maintenance, maintains a repository of instructional manuals and warranty informationCollaborates with CSM Scheduling and Facilities to coordinate science and health laboratory useCollaborates with academic deans, chairs, and faculty to research, preview and order supplies, equipment, media or software for the science and health laboratoriesFosters professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders to manage science and health laboratoriesCollaborates across divisions to support lab use for Continuing Education and Workforce Development (CWD), Career and Technical Education (CTE), and other college needsFacilitates connection between vendors, discipline/program coordinators and the college bookstore for student laboratory supplies as appropriateTracks grant purchases and develops data collection methods related to supplies and equipment for grant reportsParticipates in college, school, and program meetings as appropriateAdditional Duties:

List all position titles reporting directly to this position, full-time or part-timeInclude student assistants, temporary, permanent and part-time faculty supervised in a typical semester or yearThree (3) Lab Coordinators covering four campuses Four (4) Lab Assistants covering four campuses Up to four student assistants Minimum Education and Training Master's degree in science, nursing, health, or related field Minimum Qualifications and Standards Required Four years of laboratory experience in science or health fieldKnowledge of healthcare equipment and supplies Knowledge of basic techniques in microbiology preparation and maintenance of culturesKnowledge of chemical measurements, calculations, and preparation of chemical solutionsKnowledge of general OSHA and EPA regulations pertaining to the use, storage, and disposal of non-hazardous and hazardous materials or substancesKnowledge of standard laboratory proceduresKnowledge of function and utilization of Chemical Hygiene PlanProficient in the operation of computers and application software to include Microsoft Office SuiteProficient in the ability to manage science and health equipment issuesFamiliarity with grant reporting and budgetsExperience in inventory control systems, monitoring and ordering of suppliesExcellent organizational and interpersonal skills Physical Requirements :
Requires lifting of objects up to 35 lbsRequires work with science and medical equipment including latex based products Requires inter-campus travel Recommended Skills Administration Biology Calculations Chemistry Data Collection Financial Management Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
